YOU KNOW WE ARE ALL AMERICANS, RIGHT?

At what point did we become two countries? Is this the new version of the civil war? I guess this would be the uncivil war. Instead of the north and south we are becoming the red and the blue. Instead of worrying about what is best for the NATION people worry about what is best for the PARTY. I really wish we could all hold hands and sing Kumbya, however, there would be a discussion about that being too racist or not racist enough. I have a vision of our founding fathers looking down on what they created and asking for a do over.  Not that they were perfect. Not that they didn't participate in ugly, underhanded political maneuvering but they wanted nothing more than to create a cohesive nation. Now politically we are as divided as warring countries. People think nothing of calling someone else a Socialist or calling someone a Fascist or calling someone a Progressive with a sneer that might as well mean Nazi. We can't affect change in this nation because nothing can be done without nasty, name calling, far fetched half truths, and that written in stone "TRUTH". If you have not read the constitution, then please do not talk about what it means. It you do not understand a topic, do not comment or better, learn. We are failing in all areas. Can we honestly believe this is the fault of one party? Are we naive enough to believe that ONE PARTY's way is the ONLY way. NO. Compromise, consensus, discussion, not fear mongering and mud slinging. Citizens need to pull together. The politicians work for us. We do not work for them. Make them accountable, make them PROVE their point not spout platitudes about party principles. And make them give this nation an honest independent appraisal of how well they are functioning. Get informed, read, listen to more than one source of news. That's NEWS, not opinion blather. If you don't have your own opinion maybe you should not be qualified to vote. And if you didn't vote then you lost your right to kvetch. So be citizens, be open, be smart. Do not just get in line behind the red or the blue. Let's try just being American.

You're Welcome,
