CAN YOU SEE THE LIGHT BULB OVER MY HEAD?

I love mornings. A fresh new start. A beginning. An opportunity to start that new diet, or job, or break that habit or whatever decision you have made for yourself. "Yes, I will start in the morning..."

I get bizarre ideas and thoughts in the morning. Some people call this "crazy". Whatever. Here is my light bulb thought for today: Everyone change places.

Not like those movies where you suddenly are in someone else's body living  their life. I mean rich people be poor. Unemployed people have jobs. People with jobs be unemployed. Let's do a nationwide: Walk In My Shoes.

Let's trade burdens and joys for say a quarter. Everything in business is measured by the fiscal quarter. Let's take 3 months and be someone else. It builds empathy and understanding. It takes you through the looking glass. If you have ever worked in a corporate environment and gone from hourly wage earner to management you know what I mean.

When you are a worker bee you can clearly see everything what management does WRONG. What ignorant decisions they make. You can't understand why your workload is heavier all the time and you feel your compensation does not measure up.

Then you get promoted to management. You start to see how much people whine about the most inane things. "I don't like the toilet paper in the ladies room". You see how much time people waste. You can't justify their output with their income. Same picture. Different perspective.

Let's do that. Let's give everyone a new perspective. Donald Trump can be homeless and penniless for three months. Homeless people can live in his homes and have to make decisions that keep other people employed. NFL stars can be fans and those boys who always wanted to be a football hero can take the gridiron. These new players can feel the pressure to win and the NFL can try to figure out how to pay for a game, parking, snacks etc.

Rail thin, beautiful women who make their huge living off their beauty can trade places with a welfare moms and feed themselves and their newly given children on McDonald's for three months. The welfare mom's can walk the runways and sell fashion to the world while not falling down. Eat three pieces of celery a day and feel the pressure to be beautiful every minute.

Of course everyone in government has to live on government programs. GOOD LUCK.

I get to run the government. OK, ya'll can help.

Really, I want to trade lives with the person who designed my house. They can figure out how to dust and remove cobwebs from areas 28 feet off the floor. Without a bucket lift.

See where I am going here? I am sure you do. Then at the end of three months we make all new rules about how we treat people. What's important to the nation as a whole. How will everyone benefit from the riches of this nation. How to divide burden. Where you draw the line on helping and enabling. Where you draw the line at power and ultimate power.

This would be a great "study". You know how I love those. It would be the world's greatest human experience.

OK, It's Eddie Murphy/Dan Ackroyd in Trading Places.

It is a great premise though.
